Help! Please answer: what should I wear?
I am going to apply for a job at four to bartend at a restaurant/bar with a tattoo shop in the back. In the ad it said:
"Must have high energy, great personality and a look that kills! "
I have energy and personality, but I'm not sure what I should wear since it's a different kind of bar. Should I wear something sexy or something business like? I have this really hot black corset top, I kind of want to wear that but I don't know if it's too sexy. I haven't found a job in two months, so I really need this to go right.
Thanks in advance!
My take on it is this.
Sexiness comes from a woman who has self confidence and savy. Not from sleezy. A woman bartender can be extremely hot and the men tip her and be classy enough that women in the bar are not threatned that she is a slut that may be loose enough to grab their man.
Looks that kill means that you are approchable but unatainable, not the exotic dancer type. Lets face it, we have seen women that even with just a tee shirt and pair of jeans on they are smokin hot. And we have seen women who have such a mess going on with lots of makeup, push up bra, shorts cut up to there and no one looks at the m twice. No one even wants to talk to them. I mean, they look to easily gotten. You know what I mean?
So it's a a matter of balance and effect. Puting on a corset that you feel you need to tug on to keep your puppies from jumping out of the top, or you can't sit down in or move easily isn't a good idea. But if the corset makes you feel great, and you put your own personal touch to it then it is what you should wear. Lets say you decide to wear it, how about a classy blouse that covers your body with the corset showing halfway down the front and then a blazer over that. You can arrive stylish, then remove the blazer once you are into the interview. Showing you both know how to dress and when to show it.
I would also go focused on the makeup. A knock out mouth OR a knock out smokey eye is classy. If you wear both the result is just looking made up too much. Try it, you'll see what I mean.
Also, have an ICE BREAKER that will set you above others - bring your own bottle opener maybe on a keychain that you tell them you keep in your back pocket at all times when you are working. That will show them your intention is to work, not just look good. In addition it makes you approachable to ask questions and that is exactly what you want.
***Don't wear high heels no matter how tempted you are. A serious bartender would never wear heels. Where boots or something with style but sensible. They want knock out but believe me, they will have a no nonsense person there who will also be looking for a bartender who can do the job.
Quick! study up on drinks, Look up the business on the internet and get an idea of who they are. Fun facts that you can throw out there like, so this place opened first and then the tatoo shop was opened later in 06. They will notice your energy that way. Don't go in bouncy off the ways. Remember that chick at all the parties that was just too happy and bubbly? We couldnt stand her right?! They say high energy just meaning you smile and are attentive when being interviewed. The high energy will apply when you start working there! Best of Luck!
, bring your own bottle opener around your neck on a cool
