I'm researching Sati, the funeral practice among some Hindu communities in which a recently-widowed woman immolates herself on her husband’s funeral pyre.

I've read that it's customary for the widow to wear her wedding attire in such a ceremony. Is it possible that the widow would also wear mehndi tattoos on her hands and feet as she did when she was a bride?

And, if so, what mehndi symbols or designs might she wear and what would be their meaning or significance in such a ceremony?
