I am a craftster and I am a novice sewer.?

What supplies are a must for my sewing kit?

Good sharp scissors, needles, thread, pins and pin cushion, thimble, tape measure, fabric marking pen, seam ripper, I find a note pad and pencil helpful for writing down things I need for different projects.
If you have a sewing machine that adds a few things to the list... Sewing machine needles and oil for machine, as well as a small screwdriver and a small paintbrush (for brushing away lint, dust, threads).
A needle threader and a pair of tweezers come in handy too.
Oh and a balloon or piece of rubber (for pulling stubborn needles).
