Self piercing with sterilized needles (belly, nose, cartilage)?
i just ordered 14 and 16 gauge sterilized piercing needles and forceps...i am interested in piercing my cartilage, belly button, and maybe my nose...can u tell me what needle to use for each, any risks, procedure, suggested jewelry, and any tips u have on doing it myself/with a friend...yes i have read stories and watched videos of all of these types of piercings being done in a shop and at home...oh ya and i dont want the whole "get a piercer to do it" answer either...im not made of money and my parents wont let me...this is something i have decided i want and am going to take action (this isnt rebellion its expression)
im all for doing it yourself if you do it right!
General Info: pierce on an exhale, it just makes it easier to get over with. stab through Quickly. also, make sure everything is clean, skin, hands, needle, and jewelry. whoever is piercing you (yourself or a friend) needs to be able to see what their doing, and mark where you are going to pierce with a washable marker so you know it will look good. make sure you keep it clean with saline (contact solution) or nonscented anti bacterial soap.
NOSE-18G (i know you dont have it, but you can pierce with a 16G, and insert a 18G jewelry). you have seen the videos, so insert the way you have seen, this one is very simple. there are virtually no risks. for the jewelry, any of the jewelries will work, except for the one with the little ball that holds it in, for a new piercing this will Not do.
BELLY BUTTON-14G. this is a surface piercing, which is always more complicated than the regular piercings. this one has a risk of migration, and easier to get infected & pierce wrong. again, plan where you are going to get it pierced so you do it right. keep this one clean with Neosporin.
CARTILAGE-16G (you can do a 14G if you want, but 16G is suggested). no risks, any placement will do. not much to this one at all. a ring will work good so you can rotate it to clean it easier. the horseshoe shape is nice. you can do a stud, but i havent had much luck with those. the closure gets stuck with the healing...also, dont to a capture ring. its hard to snap in the ball, so save that for later.
EDIT: do not numb anything with ice, it makes the flesh stiff, and hard to pierce, also, its very hard to pierce your internal organs for the belly button...dont worry about that
