Has anyone bought a Ranger Ink Heat It Craft Tool from the USA?
I have bought a Ranger Ink Heat It Craft Tool from the USA but it has the standard 120V USA power plug so I can't plug it straight into the wall in Australia. Can I use this in Australia with a standard AUS/USA plug adaptor? The website that I bought it from says that I should just be able to use a standard adaptor, but I'm too scared to try it in case I electrocute myself!
I have bought a standard AUS/USA plug adaptor (Korjo brand). I didn't buy the "Step Down Convertor" though, I only bought the standard plug adaptor.
Unfortunately I don't have the Craft Tool in front of me at the moment but I think it is about 500W.
I'm just wondering whether anybody has used their Ranger Ink Heat It Craft Tool with a standard adaptor plug in Australia?
Obviously I should have researched all this before buying it online from the States!
The DH (physics person) says that you MUST use a step-down converter, not just the adaptor... definitely not safe to use the adaptor alone (fire/burning out the tool/etc).
And the converter you buy MUST be rated for the power of the tool you bought.
However, if the tool has a switch on it for 110 or 220 operation, then it can be used with just the plug adaptor by switching it to 220 volt operation...but most tools won't have that switch.
HTH, and not too late!
