what does watered down gas do to a high performance engine?
i have a 1991 ford taurus sho with a 3.0 24v dohc high performance engine. yesterday i got gas from a gulf station and put 93 super in it mixed in with the half tank of 91 premium that i already had. i noticed my car was bogging a little bit when i hit the gas. Its been known that this gas station waters down gas but i was in a rush. is this what its from, or is my transmission going?
No gas station intentionally waters down gas. They don't mix. The gas floats on top of the water. Occasionally, condensation will form in the underground tanks, but it still doesn't mix with the gas unless you bought yours while the tanker was filling the storage tank. There are any number of reasons your car may have bogged down-dirty injectors, bad sensors, tranny, etc. Keep an eye on it and see if it continues. BTW, there is no real benefit to using 93 in your engine. Hope this helps.
